Skill Development Manual

We're looking forward to the opportunity to work with you and will continue to strive to create an environment where each hockey player will further develop and enhance both their individual and team hockey skills.

This manual focuses on the key components of developing and implementing the skills necessary to excel in our great sport. The following pages are by no means a complete guide to all facets of the game nor is it intended to be.

Our intention is to create a "blue-print" that you as coaches within the program can use as a guide throughout the course of the season. This blue-print if you will, is actually a plan of progression. The progress your players make throughout the season will depend largely on your ability to identify areas of weakness and develop a plan to continuously improve on those areas until they are ready to move on to the next challenge.

With that said, here is our biggest challenge: Absolutely, without a doubt, we need to make this game fun!! We must approach practices and games with the same enthusiasm we had when we first started playing. Enthusiasm and Creativity, two words that we need to remember every time we draw up a practice plan.

Skill Development Philosophy

We need to be "continuously" dedicated to the development of individual skills.

Continuously: every single time we step on the ice.
